WEUC COVID-19 Response Letter No. 13
Dear Willowdale Emmanuel United Church members,
We trust you are doing well considering this unprecedented time.
With the omicron variant on the rise, WEUC Council has made the decision to require all people entering the church for worship must provide government approved proof of full vaccination (2 doses). Those who do not provide approved documentation will not be allowed entry – No exceptions.
This policy takes effect December 19, 2021.
During the Christmas season, with the potential of extended family members and guests attending church services, it is the responsibility of WEUC members to inform their party of the proof of vaccination policy.
Please note that in-person worship is for those who feel comfortable doing so. For those who do not feel comfortable attending the traditional format service, the live-stream and printed options will continue to be available.
In addition to the above requirements, extensive protocols will continue and include the following:
Anyone entering the WEUC building must wear a mask at all times. Exceptions include people who cannot wear a mask for medical reasons.
Attendance to be taken on Sundays by WEUC volunteers for contact tracing as recommended by Toronto Public Health.
HEALTH SCREENING FOR COVID-19 SYMPTOMS at point of entry (Kenneth Avenue Sanctuary Doors - Narthex) to include temperature checks, hand sanitizing and review of policy #6 with all members/visitors before they are allowed entry.
Only areas that are in use by WEUC for worship purposes are to be utilized. We are encouraging limited use of washrooms to reduce contact of high-touch areas.
Social distancing measures must be adhered to – 2 metres apart in fixed pew seating unless from same family. (see green marker on pew seat back)
Remind members that if they have any of the following symptoms:
fever, cough, difficulty breathing
sore throat, trouble swallowing
runny nose; loss of taste or smell
not feeling well: nausea, vomiting diarrhea OR
have come in close contact with someone who is sick or has confirmed COVID-19 in the past 14 days
have returned from travel outside Canada in the past 14 days
TO STAY HOME AND SELF ISOLATE IMMEDIATELY.
Thank you for your understanding on this matter.
This is such a challenging and unpredictable time in ministry. We as council hope and pray that God may give you all the strength to grow in our deeper faith. We will continue to be a church for hope, peace, joy and love in Jesus who is coming as a principal of peace on earth.
